Everything you Need to Know About Corset Stealthing
If you plan on wearing your corset under your clothing there are a few things to consider to ensure it’s subtle and effective. Here’s everything you need to know about corset stealthing...
Corset stealthing is the art of concealing your corset perfectly underneath your clothing. In some cases, you may wish to wear your corset proudly, with it on show for all to see. At other times, the occasion may require for you to wear a corset subtly, underneath clothing without any indication that you are wearing a corset at all.
While you might think this just comes down to putting something on over your corset, there’s a lot more to it to ensure your corset is perfectly subtle. Read on to discover everything you need to know about corset stealthing, for those occasions when you want to keep your corset on the down low…
Corset Stealthing Explained
Corsets are worn in a number of ways and for a number of different reasons. For some they are exhabitionist pieces, to create a fashion statement and be worn boldly and proudly. For others it’s all about the waist defining features - wearing corsets to create an hourglass figure. In some cases, generally when the corset is being worn primarily to reduce the waist and slim the figure, corsets need to be worn subtly underneath clothing, to look as if they are not there at all. This is where corset stealthing comes in, so that you can benefit from a waist reduction and support, while ensuring nobody knows you are wearing a corset.
Get the Fit Right
The first and most important thing about corset stealthing is ensuring that your corset fits correctly. If your corset doesn’t quite fit right, it will be much more noticeable under your clothing. Not only might it stick out slightly in certain places or cause bulges, it may also be uncomfortable, causing you to keep readjust it through your clothing - not very subtle!
In order to make sure you get your fit right it’s important to get the right size corset for your measurements. Our handy sizing guide will help you determine what size is best for you. Before you wear your corset you will also have to wear it in. This is known as corset seasoning, and will ensure your corset fits your body like a glove when it comes to wearing it subtly under your clothing.
Materials Matter
If you intend on wearing your corset under your clothing more often than wearing it so that it’s visible, choose a mesh or satin corset. These materials tend to be more lightweight and smoother, making them less bulky than cotton or leather alternatives and are ideal for wearing underneath additional garments.
Try using flat satin laces too, instead of round nylon laces. The flat laces are easier to hide and won’t be detected through your clothing.
What to Wear
What you wear over your corset of course depends on your own personal style and the occasion, but there are a few ways in which you can dress to perfectly disguise your corset.
For a casual look, try a longline underbust corset with a pair of highwaist jeans and vest tucked in. Dress up a little with heeled sandals, or go for an ultra casual look with lace up pumps. Choosing high waisted jeans will perfectly highlight your cinched waist, and should cover your corset well. If you prefer not to wear form fitting clothing, try wearing swing top that meets the top of your jeans.
When it comes to dressing up, avoid sheer or clingy fabrics as these will just highlight your corset underneath. Instead try clothing with a textured fabric as these will hide the outline of your corset. A wrap dress will work wonders for your figure and will highlight your waist. For loose fit dresses, try belting your waist to highlight the smallest part of your body. A belt will also help your dress stay in place and ensure your corset is completely concealed.
Of course when it comes to choosing an outfit to wear with your corset, you may already have something in mind, especially for a special occasion. Generally speaking, if your corset fits well and you choose the right style, you should be able to wear it subtly under many different pieces of clothing.
