Based on your measurements, we recommend a corset from our Instant Shape range, or an underbust design.

Extra attention is needed when selecting your Corset size, as our designs are available in different styles, shapes, widths, lengths and reductions.
 

Our "Perfect Fit" tool should be used with your body measurements. "Waist Taming" corsets are rated to a 3-4" waist reduction and should be worn with at least a 2" gap at the back. This is already factored into our size chart. Simply select the size that corresponds with your natural waist & bust measurement.

The majority of the tension running through a Corset is focused on the waist. This makes the waist the critical measurement when sizing your corset.

Corsets are fully adjustable at the back. You can "Open" or "Close" the lacing at the Bust, Waist & Hip independently for the perfect fit. Our patterns have been developed and tested to fit a variety of body shapes using these adjustments.

Please note, different designs on our website have different patterns/size charts. To avoid disappointment, it is always best to use the "Perfect Fit" tool for each individual Corset you order.

Do you know how to measure yourself to get the perfect fitting Corset?

The tension in a Corset runs through your waist, which makes your waist an extremely important measurement when sizing your Corset. Once you have the correct size Corset for your waist it is easy to tension or loosen the bust & hip regions for the perfect fit.


To find your natural waist:

1.Measuring your Waist

You can find your waistline by tipping your torso to one side, when you do this a fold will appear. This is where your waist is, usually just above the belly button.

2. Measuring your Bust

You should measure your bust at the fullest part and not under the bust at the bra line. If you need to wear a bra when measuring, we recommend a non-padded bra. If you can obtain an accurate measurement without a bra, then this would be ideal.

3. Measuring your Hip

To locate where to measure your hip, lift your leg when standing and feel with your finger where the bone articulates into the pelvis. It is close to the fullest part of your hip and the tape measure should go around the top of your bottom. Do not measure your high hip.

No Size Offered

In some cases, your measurements may not fit with our "Perfect Fit" tool. This could be because you have a fuller bust and a very small waist, or perhaps you have very straight measurements. In this case, our customer service team are on hand to help you find the perfect size, style and design of corset. Please email a member of the team with your questions at sizing@corset-story.com 

Larger Cup Size

We offer corsets for a bust measurement of up to 62" in our Expert Waist Training and Waist Taming ranges, which are great for our fuller bust customers as they are the most accomadating in the bust shaping. These have extra support and make a great option for bra replacment. For customers with a bust measurement bigger than 62" we have plenty of Underbust options.

Smaller Cup Size

For a smaller bust we would recommend a Straight line design and many of our Corset Tops. If you would like one of our classic sweetheart neckline designs we would recommend sizing down 1 size, this will then be worn with a 4" lacing gap at the waist.

Larger Hip Size

For a more curvy hip we would recommend a Corset with a Hip Gore. Hip Gores are the inverted darts in the bottom hem of the Corset, these additional triangles of fabric allow for the Corset to flare at the bottom which helps the waist reduction of the Corset.

Smaller Hip / Straight Hip

For a straighter body shape or smaller hips we would recommend a corset from our Instant Shape Range. A Waspie is also a great option as it draws attention to the waist which enhances the hips to create and hourglass shaping.

Length of Corset

The length of a corset when worn will vary on the style of the corset and the proportions of your body. We usually advise to work backwards with the torso. On each product page we list the busk length in the product details. You can check this measurement against your body by putting the centre of the measurement level with your waist. The bottom of the measurement should not come lower than the pelvic bone and the upper measurement shouldn't come higher than your underarm.

Corsets contain numerous steel components which may rust if they become damp. All of our corsets are Dry Clean Only, to save on cleaning costs we recommend you always wear a Corset Story Corset Liner under your corset.

Corset liners are worn underneath the corset to avoid direct contact with the skin and are machine washable, reducing the amount of times you will need to visit the dry cleaners.

 
If your Corset does become damp it is important that you lay your Corset flat in a dry place or airing cupboard; this will ensure that any residual moisture evaporates as quickly as possible. When storing your corset for longer periods of time, you can use one of our dust bags to shield your corset from dust and dirt. We recommend hanging your corset over a coat hanger from the laces for 24 hours before wear.

I love this corset! It’s a beautiful green, gives great coverage and is comfortable to wear throughout the day. I did have a bit of trouble getting it on by myself but that’s most likely due to inexperience. There is only one thing I would change, and that’s the lacing. Being that it’s ribbon instead of rope makes it a fraction more tricky. Still very much pleased with it though
